Beginner - Intermediate -  Advanced lessons in drawing and oil painting
OIL PAINTING
Beginner Oil Painting: An introduction to oil painting.  Preparation of canvases. Exploration of paint mediums and dryers and how they effect the process. Knowledge of various brushes and palette knives. Various drills will be implemented so the student can gain skill in applying the paint. Light and dark scales.  Landscape, still life, human figure will be explored.

Intermediate Oil Painting: A study of color theory. Students will learn how color effects the overall painting.  A study of Chiaroscuro. Through various tasks, students will learn light and dark value and how these variations can overall effect the work. A study in composition. Students will learn to compose their works (symmetrical, asymmetrical, dramatic, etc). Students will be taught and explore Glaze and Alla Prima techniques.  Self generated ideas will be explored. Students will explore painting in larger size canvases than what they are used to, and traditional and abstract methods will be applied in those sizes.  Students will gain knowledge of 400-500 year old methods in oil painting  with organic non toxic materials.  Exploration of abstract expression, still life, human figure, landscape.

Advanced Oil Painting: Students will apply all acquired knowledge to their works. This lesson is to assist the student in developing their own style. Students will further develop their skill as a stepping stone to their own style. The student will be responsible for canvas size, theme, communication, and must be ready to explain critical questioning of their works.

DRAWING
Beginner Drawing: A study of the elements of drawing. Line, form, Shape, Perspective, Chiaroscuro (light and dark). Gesture drawing will be explored. Human figure, still life, perspective (3D).  Mediums use will be graphite and lead pencil, charcoal, ink.

Intermediate Drawing: Further study of the elements with the introduction of color theory. Tone, Value, Hue.  Human figure, landscape, still life, perspective, abstract,  self generated ideas  will be explored. Mediums used will be graphite, charcoal, lead pencil, oil pastel, chalk pastel, ink.

Advanced Drawing: Further study of the elements and application of acquired knowledge from previous lessons. Exploration of the individuals creativity expressed in drawing.  Mediums used will be up to student's choice.
